Apprenticeship Scheme Expands at Eurotech

Eurotech has a long history of training apprentices, and in fact one of the current directors started as an apprentice with the company in the 1980s initially on a youth training scheme (YTS)

Over the last few years, we have taken on apprentices in manufacturing as well as in CAM engineering, electronics, and electrical maintenance. The schemes are usually run-in conjunction with Exeter College which offers great support to the business community providing a wide range of vocational training. We have also had people training in a wide range of other skills including management, lean manufacturing, six sigma, quality control, accountancy, HR, marketing, and sales.

However, it is the apprenticeships which Managing director David Douglas gets the most excited about:

“I know it’s a cliché, but we need to train the next generation. Many companies like ourselves have a stable but ageing workforce, the skills need to be passed on. One of the great things about working with someone like Exeter College is that the apprentices come back with fresh ideas and are encouraged to challenge the way things are done”
